As harmful executive orders take effect and we see a sharp increase in immigration enforcement, public spaces are now open grounds for surveillance and intimidation. ICE raids in our neighborhoods, restaurants, and potentially schools, hospitals, and religious spaces, instill fear and uncertainty among immigrant families and business owners. It’s clear that these orders don’t impact one community—they affect us all. Racial profiling and unlawful detention, even of lawful residents, are not isolated incidents and will continue to happen.

To keep our communities safe, we’re working to keep AANHPI families informed about their rights and available resources through in-language materials. It is essential that individuals understand their legal protections, can access support networks, and remain empowered in the face of these challenges.

🍁This month, we celebrated the first cohort of our Youth Fellowship for their successful completion of our 15-week program to develop leaders and advocates for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. We launched a multi-million dollar campaign to turn out the AANHPI vote in communities across Nevada in 2024. This election cycle, One APIA Nevada, in partnership with other organizations such as Alliance for Youth Action and Future Forward, has invested over $4 million dollars into civic outreach to Nevada’s AANHPI communities—an effort that has helped Nevada have one of the strongest AANHPI voter turnouts in battleground states.

Puppies & Boba 2024 was smashing success with 300 attendees who joined us for a lively evening of adorable puppies, live performances, free food and drinks, and plenty of freebies from our community partners.

Several puppies found their forever homes 🐶🏠 and folks in both Northern and Southern Nevada are prepped, pledged, and ready to make their voices heard this November! 🗳️

The Bridge Access Program ends this month! Adults 18 years and older who are uninsured or have health insurance that doesn’t fully cover COVID-19 vaccine costs in-network can still get a free updated COVID-19 vaccine.

Visit Vaccines.gov and select “Find COVID-19 Vaccines.” Then type in your 5-digit ZIP code and which vaccine option(s) you’re interested in finding. Next, select “Search for COVID-19 vaccines.” You can then filter locations by participating providers and pharmacies. Select the “Bridge Access Program Participant” option under the “Only show locations with:” section.

Last weekend, we had the pleasure of welcoming our first AANHPI senator, Sen. @rochellenguyen, to speak with our youth fellows on the importance of building up our systems and bringing our cultural perspectives and unique experiences to the table. Thank you for empowering our youth to utilize their personal strengths to come up with creative, innovative solutions for our communities. #OANyouth24
